Wildlife around Aberford

One of the benefits of the countryside is the abundance of wild birds that visit the garden, here is one such example, a woodpecker, often heard but seldom seen. This one has been visiting Parlington Hall on a regular basis over the last couple of weeks. They are very alert birds and soon take flight, so catching one with a camera can take some patience.

Greater Spotted Woodpecker

During the last week another visitor to the garden has been a barn owl, it arrives nightly around 9:30pm and sits on a fence post surveying the land for small creatures that are busy in the long grass.
